A 19-year-old as been arrested after a fatal fight on a South Auckland street.
Emergency services were called to Wymondley Road in Ōtara shortly before midnight on Friday after reports of a group of people fighting in the street.
Two men were found with critical injuries and transported to hospital, but one died soon after.
Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua said police arrested a 19-year-old man on Saturday night in relation to the altercation.
He’d been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to a second victim, who had since been discharged from hospital.
Vaaelua said the post-mortem examination of the deceased victim was completed on Sunday and police were still working to find out what happened.
“Once those enquiries are complete, further charges are likely.”
The 19-year-old was due to appear in the Manukau District Court on Monday.
